What did you do today? I was reading on the beach.

Hola everyone!
So I just wanted to do a quick summary of my week. It's been a tad uneventful. I mean things happened, but it was pretty calm. 

Aujourd'hui je mélange le tout, j'alterne français et anglais yé! Donc il n'y a rien eu de SUPER excitant cette semaine, mais je voulais faire un petit résumé rapide :)

Monday, we had a class on rare books and I pretty much spent my time smelling them (...don't judge me please) and at night we had our first PG Committee meeting, awesome bunch can't wait to do more! Oh and little anecdote of the day - I have these coupons for Morrison's if you spend £15 and more you get £3 off, I calculate stuff to spend as close to £15 as possible, arrive at the cash register and I spent for £14.40!!!! and like most people whom I told this story to told me, I could have grabbed a chocolate bar or something..but no, I panicked and gave my money and left in shame.

Lundi, nous avons eu un cours sur la collection des livres rares de l'université et j'ai pas mal passé mon temps à essayer de les sentir (oui j'aime l'odeur...enfin) et le soir nous avons eu notre première réunion pour le comité de l'asso étudiante. 

et petite anecdote de la journée - j'ai été chez Morrison's et j'ai des coupons du genre si tu dépense £15 tu as £3 de rabais et j’ai calculé pour dépenser presqu’exactement £15, mais j’arrive au comptoir et ça dit £14.40….!!!! et la plupart des gens à qui j’ai raconté cette histoire m’ont dit ‘pourquoi tu n’as pas prit une barre de chocolat ou quelque chose’ très bonne question, pourquoi pas? Parce que j’ai paniqué, donné mon argent et quitté le magasin rapidement.

Tuesday, another class, on Rochester....he makes me feel awkward that's all I'll say. On Tuesday night we went to Zizzi's for Sarah's birthday and then we went out at the union to grab a drink. It was a very nice evening :)

Mardi, un autre cours, sur Rochester..beh..passons. Mardi soir nous sommes allés chez Zizzi’s (epargnez moi les joke svp haha) pour la fête de Sarah et après nous sommes allés au bar de l’asso étudiante pour prendre un verre. C’était une super soirée!

Wednesday was nothing exceptional. Rained all day, and I was tired so I decided to bum it out and stay home all day. Skyped with my parents and talked to them about my ideas for my essay I was working on (relating an essay by Helene Cixous to a novel) and they gave me the best idea: Millennium by Stieg Larsson. So I started thinking of ideas for my essay. 

Mercredi était assez plate! Il pleuvait toute la journée et j’étais fatiguée donc j’ai decidé d’être poche et de rester à la maison toute la journée. J’ai skypé avec mes parents et je leur ai parlé de mon idée de dissert (parler d’un livre en relation avec un essai d’Helene Cixous) et ils m’ont suggérés Millennium de Stieg Larsson. Super bonne idée! Merci à eux :)

Thursday we were supposed to go to Dundee but it just didn't end up happening. I spend a very long time in the library and wrote about half my essay - ended up focusing on female agency in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. 

Jeudi nous étions supposés d’aller à Dundee mais finalement non. J’ai passé une grande partie de la journée à la bibliothèque et ai écrit la moitié de ma dissert.

Friday was full of bits and pieces. Went to the bank because I have problems with my internet banking...which they couldn't really resolve. Also I had to go through this security interview to make sure I was the right person, but I couldn't understand anything that the guy was saying...I think he thought I wasn't really Camila..but no I just still can't understand Scottish people properly, much less on the phone. After that I went to the Jumbo Sale at the union with Hannah...I think our expectations were a little too high....it wasn't jumbo at all. Anyhow, went to the School of English to discuss some things with Sandra and to pick up some texts to read for next week. Read some more of Millennium. Went to the library. Went to the grocery store (and finally used my coupon haha). Read some more. Then watched an amazing episode of TVD with my awesome flatmate. Then went to Lyndsey's birthday party. It was super fun and I had some really weird punch with Ginger beer (!) and vodka and we discussed servants. A normal night in St Andrews ;)

Vendredi était rempli de petites choses. J’ai été à la banque car j’ai des problèmes avec mon compte en ligne …et j’en ai toujours..arg c’est vraiment poche. Et quand j’étais là-bas j’ai dû parler au téléphone avec une autre branche et pour une question de sécurité j’ai dû répondre à un interview et je crois que le gars avait l’air de croire que je n’étais pas Camila car je ne comprenais rien de ce qu’il disait et donc n’arrivais pas à répondre aux questions…non c’est juste que j’ai encore beaucoup de problème à comprendre l’accent écossaise, surtout au téléphone. Après Hannah et moi sommes allées à la “super vente”, mais c’était fou nos attentes étaient peut-être un peu trop hautes? C’était pas super du tout. J’ai été au département d’anglais après ensuite à la biblio, ensuite j’ai lu un peu plus de Millennium. Ensuite j’ai été à l’épicerie. Lu encore plus. Ecoutez le nouvel épisode de TVD et ensuite été à la fête de Lyndsey.

And today, Saturday..I took it pretty mellow. Read and watched some tv (have to relax my brain somehow ;)), skyped with my parents (speaking of parents if you are reading this are you are still adopting please consider adopting me, I got good references from my real parents ;)), then went to the beach to take a walk and read some more Millennium. and then I couldn't resist, I went to Bibi's bakery and bought a cupcake...not going to lie holding a cupcake in one hand and Millennium in the other seems like such an incongruity. 

Et aujourd’hui, samedi, j’ai prit cela assez relax. J’ai lu et écouté quelques émissions de télé (j’ai besoin de relaxer mon cerveau un peu haha), j’ai skypé avec mes parents de nouveaux, et ensuite je suis allée à la plage prendre une marche et lire un peu au soleil. En revenant je n’ai pas pu résister j’ai fait un stop à la pâtisserie et acheté un cupcake. Je dois dire que c’est étrange de tenir un cupcake d’une main et une copie de Millennium dans l’autre haha
